Nicolas Hurlin is the founding partner of The Recruiter. He supports companies in their search for employees and is well familiar with the specifics of executive recruitment in Luxembourg, particularly in the ICT sector.
How has the recruitment of CISOs and CIOs become a priority concern? « These functions are obviously increasingly sought after. Most companies are now sensitized to the issues of digitization and are committed to this type of recruitment, if only to satisfy the requirements of the GDPR. There is therefore a real need for skills, which creates a tension on the recruitment market. A trend that is, of course, favorable to the rise in compensation for these sought-after profiles. IT managers now compete on a managerial level and on the level of compensation with other business directorates of companies. »
What is the ideal profile for this type of function? « The essential prerequisite is, of course, a serious technological background. IT or IT security engineers are therefore obvious candidates. But these qualifications are no longer sufficient. From now on, these functions truly have a transverse dimension in companies, and they require an HR sensitivity, or even a financial one. CISOs and CIOs must be able to adapt their discourse to all profiles in the company. They are no longer locked in a simple technician role. »
Are recruitment difficulties limited only to IT managers? « We are truly on the eve of a shortage of profiles across the entire value chain. Developers, security experts, helpdesk — the entire IT sector is concerned. Not only because of a lack of vocation or training, but especially because demand from companies is increasing considerably. Recruitments are sometimes complex, particularly in Luxembourg, where, due to historical and geographical specificities, candidates have the obligation to master several languages. »
