Outplacement is the process of supporting an employee to reposition themselves in the job market. They thus become aware of what they value and of their real added value. Our advice for restarting better when career change is imposed or voluntary.
While the end of the year is synonymous with festivities, there is a wind of uncertainty for some about the sustainability of their employment. Indeed, studies indicate that more than 400 Luxembourg employees will be affected by social plans in the coming months, including 300 from the banking sector. The legislator indicates that a company that activates a social plan must avoid or reduce the number of dismissals and limit their consequences, in particular through retraining and reintegration into the labor market. These different means can be brought together under one process: outplacement.
Self-portrait. While dismissal is definitely a source of stress and insecurity, this stage nevertheless allows the employee to do a self-analysis: mourning of the lost situation, acceptance and emotional support. Taking time for introspection and asking oneself questions such as: was I happy in this position? Did this function allow me to get closer to my professional goals? Were all my skills mobilized?
Strategy. When the self-portrait is drawn up, a job search strategy still needs to be defined. The active use of job boards is a solution to favor; however, it is one tool among others. To increase one’s chances, all sources of « leads » should be exploited: one’s own network, LinkedIn, networking events, etc. Once identified, it will be a matter of updating one’s CV and preparing a cover letter.
Program. Interview simulation, personality tests, role-playing. Everything is implemented, in outplacement, so that the employee is confronted with the reality of the job market, its expectations and its codes. The outplacement consultant advises, coaches and supports the employee at all times. 3, 6 to 12 months are offered depending on the professional path and the profile of the employee. 80% of the people supported find a job within 6 months.
